Hickory Hill has fun (and educational) adventures for both kids and educators. 


For Educators

Kicking things off in June is Investigating Famous Bloodlines.  This interactive educator's workshop is offered in conjunction with the Georgia Humanities Council.  You will learn how to research famous Georgians (and your own family) using primary sources.  

DATE: June 5th; 9am - 3pm

COST: Free; includes lunch AND a large curriculum notebook

Next up is a highly interactive 1 PLU class on using primary sources to teach Common Core, Language Arts, and Social Studies.  Teaching with Primary Sources is based on curriculum from the Library of Congress.

In July we have an interactive adventure in archaeology in with Archaeology for Educators! This interactive workshop will teach you how concepts in archaeology can be used to teach science, social studies and math.  And you will get dirty!

Do you like butterflies?  In August we will be partnering with Monarchs Across Georgia for the Monarchs! workshop.  This interactive workshop highlights the science of the monarch butterflies.  You will leave with a grade-level appropriate curriculum book as well as butterfly net, rearing cages, and much more!

DATE: August 22 -- 5:00-8:00pm and August 23 -- 9:00am - 4:00pm

COST: $75, includes supper on Friday and lunch on Saturday

Adventures for Kids


Hickory Hill offers two summer day camps for kids. 


Eco-Adventures is a fun and fascinating adventure in ecology.  Campers will work in our organic garden, learn about native animals, water quality and much more.  Arts & crafts, hikes, and games are all part of the adventure.  This camp is for children 10 to 15 years of age. 

AGES: 10 to 15 years

DATES: June 9 - 13 and June 23 - 27

TIME: 9:00am - 4:00pm

COST: $60, does not include lunch


Dig History! is an archaeology adventure designed especially for teenagers age 11 to 17 year of age.  Campers explore ancient hunting  methods, learn what our garbage says about us, and work with professional archaeologists to excavate the Jeffersonian Publishing Plant site.  (Sorry, no dinosaurs in this camp.) They will get dirty! 

AGES: 11 to 17 years of age

DATES: July 7 - 11

TIME: 9:00am - 4:00pm 

COST: $60, does not include lunch
